Middle Bass Island Yacht Club announces Grand Opening Celebration

MBIYC will hold a Grand Opening Celebration at their new Club facilities on Saturday, June 4, 2011.

The Grand Opening Celebration ceremony will take place from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and is open to the public. A public open house will immediately follow from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. In the evening, the club will be aglow for a members-only party.

The Yacht Club, founded in 1990 and boasting 300+ members, has collaborated with the State of Ohio, through a long-term lease for land and water rights in the new State Park Marina.  Installation of state-of-the-art docks in 2009 and construction of a clubhouse in 2010-11, gives MBIYC a long-awaited, first-class facility.  “The completion of the clubhouse is the capstone of a five-year capital improvement project facilitated by a dedicated, volunteer committee of MBIYC members.  With this dedication we begin a new era for our club and look forward to welcoming our members and I-LYA affiliates to enjoy our beautiful facility,” said Dora Dirrman, Commodore.

Middle Bass Island Yacht Club is located on Middle Bass Island at the southeast corner of the State Park Marina. The club facility includes 56 docks and a clubhouse with activity room, showers, restrooms and a deck overlooking Lake Erie.

If visiting by boat for the celebration, contact the State Park Marina for dock reservations as MBIYC docks are filled for the weekend (419-285-0311.  The State Park Marina has over 150 transient docks. For transportation by ferry, contact the Miller Boat Line (800-500-2421, www.millerferry.com) which departs from Catawba Island and serves Middle Bass directly. Both the Miller Boat Line and the Jet Express (800-245-1JET, www.jet-express.com) serve Put-in-Bay and visitors may then take the Middle Bass Ferry (Sonny S) (419-285-RIDE, www.middlebassferry.com) from Put-in-Bay to Middle Bass. Please contact these companies directly for their service schedules and fares.

Members of the media desiring an invitation to the events should contact John Wierzchowski at 330-995-6088 or mysticflight@windstream.net.
