This page will contain the most current summary information relative to the reconstruction project.

Summary

MBIYC and the State Park Marina are closed for operations throughout all of 2008. We hope to reopen in June 2009. Construction is underway.

For members and affiliated clubs planning for 2009, while we hope to be open in sometime in 2009, there are no guarantees on construction schedules. We may be able to open the use of the docks in June but there may not be power immediately and water may follow even later. Permanent restroom and shower facilities will probably not be constructed until 2010.

When reopened, MBIYC docks will be leased to members as in the past and will be available to transient members and affiliates when not in use by the lessee member. The dock policy will probably be revised later this year. Members can add their name to the Dock Waiting List by clicking here.

Affiliated Clubs will be welcome at MBIYC and the State Park Marina. With the State being able to provide 200+ transient docks, even large groups should be able to be accommodated with advance reservations. MBIYC looks forward to sharing our new facilities with all affiliated Clubs.

Schedule

As with all construction, schedules are subject to frequent change.

  • 9/18/2007 - MBIYC is officially closed.
  • 10/18/2007 - Marina Basin Construction beings. The entrance to the marina has been blocked off and the marina will be de-watered in the spring. Site preparation was completed as planned this fall and work will resume as soon as possible in the spring. The construction will continue and the marina will remain closed for all of 2008.
  • June 17, 2008 - Dock Contract advertised for bid by State.
  • July 10, 2008 - Dock Contract bid date. Award follows about a week later.
  • July/August 2008 - New Lease signed with State.
  • October 2008 - Marina Basin Construction completes.
  • Spring 2009 - Dock installation starts.
  • June 1, 2009 - Marina reopened with dock limited facilities. MBIYC F Pier is scheduled for early completion.
  • Fall 2009 - Dock construction completes.
  • 2010 - MBIYC Clubhouse and State buildings construction.

Lease

The State has agreed with MBIYC to lease us docks and property and keep the Club within the State Park. Details still are being negotiated. We hope to have a signed lease during this summer.

  • 25 year lease with 10 year renewal option.
  • Review of lease rate every five years
  • Land located in southeast corner of marina adjacent to F Pier.

Docks

The dock bid package is out. The bid opening date is 7/10/08. Contract award will follow about a week later. The notice to proceed should then occur in September 2008 and dock manufacturing can begin. Dock manufacturing will occur over the winter with installation beginning as soon as possible in the spring. Dock contract has an installation completion deadline of June 1, 2009.

MBIYC intend to purchase F Pier, which is being bid as an alternate to keep it separate from the rest of the marina. F Pier will have 56 docks equipped with electricity and potable water.

Clubhouse

Preliminary plans for a Clubhouse have been completed and include a great room, warming kitchen, offices, storage space, restrooms and showers.

Construction is planned for 2010.
