Charlie McCarthy
MBIYC Commodore 1999-2000
Taken from the
1999-2000 MBIYC Yearbook
Charlie was born on a farm
in Wyandot County, near Upper Sandusky, Ohio. Charlie and his wife Sharon own
the McCarthy Corporation and with the help of the three children, Chris, Susan
and Kathryn, who are also MBIYC members,
operate a grain farming operation, along with other business interests in
the Upper Sandusky and Tiffin areas.
Charlie
bought his first boat around 1955; it was a leaky Lyman and after
several excursions on the Sandusky River, he traded it for a used 16 gauge
Mossberg shotgun. In the mid-seventies, he and Sharon purchased a 22' Sea Ray
and launched their boating career. Over the years, they have moved to bigger
boats and enjoyed many years of boating and fun and have met many great people
along the way.
In
the mid-nineties, through friends, they were introduced to the Middle Bass
Island Yacht Club. The Middle Bass Island Yacht Club has been a great
experience. We have made many new friends and
have met many fine people. It is an honor and a privilege to have served
as Commodore of the finest and fastest growing yacht club on Lake Erie.
