Larry Ohler
MBIYC Commodore 2008-2009
Larry has
been playing with boats all his life. He started water skiing and playing on
the Sandusky River as a kid and then got on a big "boat" when he went into the
Navy at 17. He swore at the time of discharge he'd never go on the water
again.
But buddies
and fishing prevailed and then he and Ginny started purchasing their own in the
70's. They have been on the water ever since, enjoying their weekends whether
fixing or mending or cruising.
He joined
MBIYC in 1991 (we think) and has been a very active member serving on different
projects. He has owned boats ranging in size from 16' to 37' and now has
"downsized" to a 33'. We guess this all was just "Ment 2 Bee" as this is the
name of our boat.
Larry has
served as Commodore (2008-2009), Vice Commodore (2007-2008), Rear Commodore (2004-2007) and is now serving as
Staff Commodore and on the Nominating Committee. It has been
a pleasure and a learning experience to serve on the bridge, and he helped
bring the club thru to its new home on the island in 2009.
