UPDATED 7/8/2008 The state EPA had halted construction and dewatering but the word today is that the issues are being resolved and construction personnel and additional equipment are returning to the island. UPDATED 6/2/2008 The State has announced 6/17/08 as the date the dock contract will go out to bid. Bid opening set for 7/10/08. UPDATED 6/2/2008 Work continues on the island with the arrival of heavy equipment. The State has announced a series of open house meeting, the first of which on June 6th. See State Updates. The State has also announced the dock bid contract will be advertised for bid in mid June. UPDATED 5/15/2008 Work has begun again on the island. The snake fence is up and as the weather warms to contractor will get busy quickly. The following statement was issued today by the contractor: "The OEPA has issued a Permission to Open Burn for the
project. We have made the appropriate notices to the local fire authority and

UPDATED 1/10/2008 The MBIYC membership voted at a special membership meeting on 1/5/2008 to permit the Officers and Board of Directors to enter into a long-term lease with the State and obtain necessary financing for docks and buildings. To fund these items, the membership approved an increase in dues to $200/year effective 1/1/2009. The initiation fee will also increase to $250 at the same time. We are very close to a final lease with the State at this time. The lease is to have a 25 year initial term and an option for 10 years. UPDATED 10/18/2007 The entrance to the marina has been blocked off and the marina will be de-watered in the spring. Site preparation was completed as planned this fall and work will resume as soon as possible in the spring. The State plans to release the dock contract for bid in December and award the contract in January 2008 with dock deliveries beginning in the fall of 2008. UPDATED 9/18/2007 Power was removed from the marina last weekend and final relocation of Club buildings will be done this coming weekend. This officially closes MBIYC until at least the spring of 2009. The state park marina is open until 9/30/2007. Construction officially begins on 10/1/07 and by 10/15/07 the marina entrance will be closed. Other land clearing and construction preparation will take place this fall and then the real work will begin next spring. UPDATED 9/5/2007 Disassembly of the Club began on 9/2/07. To date all walkways have been removed, the tent taken down and the deck around the gazebo removed. Planned for the weekend of 9/8-9/07 is moving the gazebo, storage sheds, restrooms and picnic tables off the property to a storage site. On Sat. 9/15/07 power will be disconnected. Dock removal will begin and should be completed with the exception of C dock that weekend. Providing the docks are removed on schedule, the Club will close for use on 9/15/07. Additional work parties may be needed to complete the site shutdown on the following weekends. The state park marina is open through the end of September and then also will be closed. UPDATED 6/11/2007 This year the Club Closing means more than ever before. With the State Park Marina reconstruction scheduled to begin this fall, the marina scheduled to close sometime after Labor Day, we will be closing the Club as we know it for good. The State has agreed with MBIYC to lease us docks and property and keep the Club within the State Park. Details still are being negotiated.
