
George Weisenbach
MBIYC Commodore 2001-2002, 1990-1992
George was born in Akron Ohio. His family moved to
Illinois where George attended grade school and high school in Lake Forest. He
returned to Ohio in 1958 to attend the College of Wooster.
George served in the U.S. Army and remained in the
National Guard after active service, obtaining the rank of First Lieutenant.
He joined Gulf Oil and worked in the real estate
department for 10 years. After a short term with Cleveland Trust Reality
Investor and industrial builder Ray Fogg Sr., George started his own real estate
and construction business in 1980.
Middle Bass Island entered George's life in the 1970's. In
1978 he fulfilled his dream of owning island property by purchasing an East
Point site and building his present home. Docking at the home of the late Carl
Roesch, George Carl, Bob Bowles (MBIYC Commodore 1993-94) and other conceived
the idea for the MBIYC. George was the 1st Commodore of the Club and served a
second tour in 2001-2002. He is member #1.
George and his wife Sharon, were married in 1996 and
became year-round resident of Middle Bass in June of 1998. The couple have 3
children and 8 grandchildren.
Along with running Devco Incorporated, a real estate and
appraisal company, George was the Chief of the Middle Bass Island Volunteer Fire
Department.
