Karl Wm Steuk was born in Sandusky, Ohio and attended Margaretta High School
in Castalia, Ohio and Bowling Green State University, American Flyers
Aviation School in Fort Worth, Texas, Flight Safety International, New York,
NY, SimuFlight Aviation Training, Dallas, Texas. Karl flew for the Island
Airlines for 5 years, 2 years for Erie Airways, Erie, PA, and over 32 years
for The Standard Oil Company now British Petroleum. Karl retired as Chief
Pilot in 1998. He filled numerous aviation positions for The Standard Oil
and BP Aviation. He served on numerous aviation committees, was vice
Chairman and Chairman of the NBAA International Operators Committee for 10
years, he was a pilot examiner for the FAA in the Dassault Falcon 50 and 900
aircraft. Karl served on the Put in Bay Township Port Authority.
Karl came to Middle Bass in 1942 and has been part of the Island community
as a summer resident. Pat started coming to the Island with Karl in the
late 50?s and they were married in 1959. In 1998 we retired and moved to
Middle Bass. Karl and Pat own a home and reside on Middle Bass East Point,
and are replacing their small Island home with a new, year around home. We
spend winters at our winter cottage in Surprise, Arizona.
Karl is the pastor of The Church of Middle Bass and has served in that
position for 33 years, he is serving as the Middle Bass Yacht Club
Chaplain.
Karl was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary and taught navigation and
marlinespike seamanship. Karl and Pat have a 2000 26 foot Penn Yan
(PATRICIAN) based at the Middle Bass Yacht Club.
