Joanne & Rodney Brown
Rodney and Joanne own Frayed Knot, a Cruisers 3575 Esprit.
They are docked out of Foxhaven Marina on Catawba Island. Rodney has been
boating since a small boy when he would accompany his father in their 18’ Lyman
to fish Lake Erie. Frayed Knot is Rodney’s fourth boat and the second for
Joanne. Joanne’s initiation into boating was to take a (romantic?) trip to
Mackinac Island on Rodney’s single IO 27’ Maxum. Good thing Rodney is an
experienced captain! (Good thing Joanne had no clue what first mate duties were
prior to departure!)
Rodney has worked the past 23 years with Columbia Gas of
Ohio, and when not boating he enjoys traveling, skiing and hunting. Joanne, an
architect and interior designer, is a partner with Illes Architects, Inc. in
Medina, Ohio. Her community involvement includes serving on the local zoning
commission and as a board member of ASID.
Rodney and Joanne have been involved with the
MBIYC for the past several years and look forward to ‘formally stepping up’ to
chair the entertainment committee. We have a great membership and our club is
