John & Cindy Wierzchowski

The December 2001 issue of The Grapevine, MBIYC's newsletter and the deployment of the updated website in the same month marked John & Cindy's first contributions as the Newsletter and Website Committee.

John and his wife Cindy reside in Aurora, Ohio. John holds Airline Transport Pilot and Flight Instructor licenses and is the Chief Pilot, IT Manager and a Senior Project Manager for Environmental Growth Chambers in Chagrin Falls. This along with MBIYC and Akron Power Squadron keeps him quite busy.  Cindy has been in the transportation industry for 17 years, and is currently employed as a supervisor for FedEx Supply Chain Services in Hudson, OH.

They are now enjoying their fifth boat, Mystic, a 43 ft Viking Double-Cabin Motoryacht, which is docked in Sandusky. Their goal is to sell the house and live aboard a trawler.

They have had some wonderful cruises on the Great Lakes over the years.  2001 was one of the greatest, cruising up through Lake Huron and around to Little Traverse Bay on Lake Michigan. 2003 saw them charter a trawler in the Virgin Islands. This is some of the most relaxing cruising in the world. They liked it so much they went back and did it again in January 2005. For 2008, John plans a "Commodore's Cruise" to the North Channel.

John is a senior member of the Akron Power Squadron where he has also served as the legislative officer. He is a certified Vessel Safety Examiner.

John has served as Vice Commodore (2006-2007), Treasurer (2004-2006), on MBIYC's Board of Directors (2002-2004), and together with Cindy published the Club newsletter from 2001 through 2004. He also served on the Dock Committee (2002-2007) and chaired the Rules Committee (2007).

He currently serves as Commodore (2007-2008) , Chair of the Lease Committee, and Webmaster of the Club's website.

Cindy served as the Club's bookkeeper (2002-2006 ) and has devoted countless hours to organizing and computerizing the Club's financial records. She will no doubt prove invaluable to John during his term as Commodore.
